The Oakland Mills Local Leadership Team (OMLLT) helps our neighbors build relationships and act to address community needs.
Who We Are
We are neighbors who believe that ordinary residents --like you and me-- can come together to build a stronger Oakland Mills.
We believe relationships are the catalyst for sustained and transformative community action.
When people know and care about each other- they will act on each other’s behalf to meet their needs and collaboratively solve shared problems.
What We Do
CONNECT neighbors by hosting events + programs responsive to community needs, and spark conversations and interactions.
EQUIP residents with tools and competencies to foster relationships of care and value.
EMPOWER residents to develop and implement community-based solutions.
PROVIDE technical assistance and access to resources and networks.
How We Do It
1. Create Environments for Youth + Families to Thrive:
Build A Network of Relationships
Interpersonal Relationships: Peer-peer relationships of care and mutual value
Inter-organizational Relationships: Informal Clubs/Groups, Organizations, Govt, Business, relationships of mutual benefit that maximize collective impact
2. Eliminate Obstacles + Barriers to Thriving:
Meet Community Needs
Events and programs that address the needs of the community as a result of ‘listening to the community’ and Create opportunities for community ownership
Use Community Assets to Incubate + Accelerate Community Solutions
